🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan
Song-Kul Lake is surrounded by vast alpine jailoo (summer pastures) where hundreds of nomadic families set up yurts during the summer season. This creates the famous Song-Kul Yurt Camps Area, one of the most iconic cultural landscapes in Kyrgyzstan. At around 3,016 meters above sea level, the region combines wide open grasslands, grazing horses, and a mirror-like alpine lake. The camps are typically run by local families and offer basic but authentic accommodation inside traditional felt yurts. Visitors experience nomadic life directly—horse riding, traditional food, milking livestock, and evenings around the stove inside yurts. The environment is completely natural with no permanent settlements, making it one of the purest examples of living nomadic culture in Central Asia.
