🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan
Abshir-Ata Waterfall is located in the Abshir-Sai valley of the Nookat district in the Osh region. It is one of the most unusual waterfalls in Kyrgyzstan because the water does not simply fall over a cliff—it emerges directly from a hole in the rock face and drops down a vertical limestone wall. The waterfall has two main drops, roughly 12–15 meters in total height, and is fed by an underground river system. The water is naturally mineralized, cold, and clear, flowing from deep within the mountain layers. The surrounding gorge is narrow and dramatic, with steep limestone walls and a river valley that becomes greener and wider downstream. The area is also known for caves and small springs, adding to its geological and cultural importance. Abshir-Ata has long been considered a sacred site. Local traditions and legends describe it as a holy spring, and many visitors come for spiritual reasons, collecting water or simply experiencing the natural setting.
