Barskoon Gorge is one of the most important and scenic valleys in the Terskey Ala-Too range. It stretches for more than 30 km from the village of Barskoon up into high-altitude terrain connecting to the Arabel Plateau. The gorge begins with steppe-like landscapes and gradually transitions into dense Tien Shan spruce forests, alpine meadows, and finally rocky high-mountain zones near 3,000–4,000 meters. The upper part of the gorge is part of an important historical route connecting the Issyk-Kul basin with the inner Tian Shan. Barskoon is especially famous for its series of waterfalls, including well-known cascades such as “Tears of the Snow Leopard,” “Bowl of Manas,” and “Sparkling Champagne.” The valley is also part of an ancient Silk Road corridor, and several historical monuments and petroglyphs can be found along the route.
