Kyzyl-Suu River is a major glacier-fed river system in eastern Kyrgyzstan, originating from the high-altitude glaciers of the Terskey Ala-Too mountains. It forms a long and diverse valley that stretches from remote alpine zones near the Ak-Shyyrak and Arabel regions down toward the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. In its upper reaches, the river flows through harsh glacial terrain, moraines, and high-altitude plateaus with minimal vegetation. As it descends, it enters broader valleys with alpine meadows, spruce forests, and seasonal nomadic pastures. The river system is ecologically important as it connects some of the highest mountain zones in Kyrgyzstan with the Issyk-Kul basin. It is also closely associated with trekking routes, mining access roads, and historical Silk Road corridors that passed through southern Issyk-Kul.
