Too-Ashuu Pass is a major mountain crossing in the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range of the Tian Shan system. It lies on the strategic highway connecting northern Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek and Chui Valley) with the southern regions (Osh and Jalal-Abad). The pass reaches around 3,400 meters above sea level and is known for its steep serpentine roads, snow-covered peaks, and wide alpine panoramas. A modern tunnel allows year-round passage between the north and south, while the old road above the tunnel offers dramatic hiking and scenic viewpoints. The landscape changes quickly: lush valleys below, then steep forested slopes, and finally open alpine terrain with views stretching into the vast Suusamyr Valley. In winter, the pass becomes snow-covered and challenging, while in summer it turns into a green high-mountain corridor.
