The Suusamyr Valley Pass route is not a single pass but a high-altitude mountain corridor connecting northern Kyrgyzstan with the central Suusamyr Valley. The journey typically crosses the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range via Too-Ashuu Pass and continues through Ala-Bel Pass, descending into the vast Suusamyr plateau. Suusamyr Valley lies at an average altitude of around 2,200–3,200 meters and stretches for more than 150 km. The valley is one of the largest alpine pastures in Central Asia, surrounded by towering mountain ranges and used extensively as summer jailoo by nomadic herders. The pass route itself is famous for dramatic elevation changes: forested valleys below, steep alpine climbs, tunnel crossings, and then sudden opening into a wide green plateau filled with rivers, yurts, and grazing livestock. This corridor is also the main artery of the Bishkek–Osh highway, making it both a practical transport route and one of the most scenic road journeys in Kyrgyzstan.
