🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan
Chon-Kemin River originates in the northern Tian Shan mountains and flows through one of Kyrgyzstan’s most ecologically rich valleys—the Chon-Kemin National Park. The river cuts across alpine meadows, spruce forests, and broad pasturelands before joining the Chu River basin. The upper river sections are fast-flowing and mountainous, fed by glaciers and snowmelt from surrounding peaks. As the river descends into the wider Chon-Kemin Valley, it becomes calmer and supports seasonal grazing areas, villages, and biodiversity-rich ecosystems. The river is especially popular for rafting, horseback tourism, and eco-travel due to its scenic surroundings and relative proximity to Bishkek. It is considered one of the greenest river valleys in northern Kyrgyzstan.
