Altyn Arashan Valley (meaning “Golden Healing Springs”) is one of the most iconic alpine valleys in Kyrgyzstan, located about 10–20 km from Karakol in the Ak-Suu area of the Terskey Ala-Too mountains. The valley sits at around 2,500 meters elevation and is surrounded by dense Tien Shan spruce forests, glacier-fed rivers, and steep peaks rising above 5,000 meters. It is part of a protected natural area known for its biodiversity, including wildlife such as ibex and snow leopards. Altyn Arashan is most famous for its natural thermal hot springs, where mineral-rich waters flow into simple bathhouses built along the river. These springs are used both for relaxation and traditional wellness after long trekking routes. The valley is also a key point on major trekking routes such as the Ala-Kul Lake circuit and Ak-Suu Traverse, making it one of the most important adventure hubs in Kyrgyzstan.
