Karkyra Valley is a high-mountain valley situated in the eastern part of Issyk-Kul region, close to the Kazakhstan border. The valley is known for its extremely wide open landscapes, gentle slopes, and rich summer pastures used by nomadic herders. During summer, Karkyra becomes a vibrant jailoo area filled with yurts, grazing livestock, and traditional nomadic life. The surrounding Tian Shan mountains create a dramatic backdrop, while the valley itself stretches wide and open, making it one of the most spacious alpine valleys in Kyrgyzstan. Karkyra is also historically significant as a borderland region, connecting Kyrgyz and Kazakh cultural and trade routes.
