Chatkal Range is a major mountain range located in western Kyrgyzstan, extending along the border regions of Jalal-Abad and neighboring Central Asian territories. It forms part of the Western Tian Shan system and is known for its wild, less-developed terrain. The range features steep mountain ridges, deep river valleys, dense walnut and spruce forests, and rich biodiversity. It is home to protected natural areas such as Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve and various wildlife habitats. Unlike the more tourist-developed Issyk-Kul region, Chatkal remains remote and less explored, making it ideal for wilderness trekking, ecological tourism, and expedition-style travel.
