The Bazar-Korgon Lakes are not a single lake but a collection of small natural mountain lakes and seasonal water bodies located in the forested foothills of the Babash-Ata ridge and surrounding Kara-Unkur basin in the Jalal-Abad region. This area is part of one of the richest ecological zones in Kyrgyzstan, known for its ancient walnut and fruit forests, mixed with alpine meadows and rocky mountain terrain. The lakes are often formed by snowmelt and underground springs, especially during late spring and summer. Some of these lakes are located deep within forested valleys, making them difficult to access and relatively untouched by mass tourism. The surrounding landscape includes walnut groves, wild apple trees, and diverse flora typical of the Fergana mountain ecosystem. The region is also part of a broader biodiversity corridor stretching toward the Chatkal Range, making it important for wildlife and ecological balance.
