Barskoon Waterfall is one of the most famous natural attractions in the Issyk-Kul region. It lies in the Barskoon Gorge, a valley carved by the Barskoon River flowing down from the Terskey Ala-Too mountains. The waterfall system consists of multiple cascades, with the main drop reaching about 24 meters. The water originates from glacier-fed streams high in the mountains, making it especially strong during late spring and summer. The area is surrounded by dense spruce forests, alpine meadows, and rocky cliffs. A hiking trail leads through the gorge, offering views of several smaller waterfalls along the way. Near the entrance of the valley, visitors also pass Soviet-era landmarks, including a monument to Yuri Gagarin, who once visited the area for high-altitude training. Barskoon Waterfall is both a natural monument and a protected area, making it one of the key scenic stops on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul.
